Evening Keynote: Florida Stories with Carl Hiaasen

Tuesday, December 5, 7-9 p.m.
Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall (777 N. Tamiami Tr., Sarasota)
Enjoy an unforgettable evening with Florida’s most savagely funny, riotous, and cathartic storyteller Carl Hiaasen, with emcee Craig Pittman, local storytellers & musical guest. It’s an irreverent evening of stories recounting Floridians’ love-hate relationship with our enchantingly savage lands, waters, and creatures. A Florida native, Carl Hiaasen has been writing about the Sunshine State since his father gave him a typewriter at age 6. Thirteen books and nine national bestseller books later, his fiction is not far from the bizarre truth he found in his Florida reporting for the Miami Herald from 1985 until 2021. Those sharp observations and eye-opening reporting have earned him three Pulitzer Prize nominations. Sponsored by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. Tickets are $85/general admission, $185/VIP Experience, with pre-show reception and premium seating. EcoSummit attendees can enjoy special pricing. Learn more and register at eco-summit.org.
